FAQs
Got a question? Brill! Hopefully you’ll find the answer below.
Why should I choose a private course, instead of buying one online, or reading a book?
Private courses are worth their weight in gold. Connection, nurture and genuine support are just a few of the benefits. Plus, your course will be personalised to suit YOUR birth and you’ll have LOADS of time to ask questions and share your worries. When I tried an online course, I found myself distracted by what was going on around me. You won’t have that on one of my courses, we’ll be completely distraction-free.
Where are your courses based?
1:1 courses can be delivered in my home, your home or online. Why? I want you to feel relaxed because you are more likely to take in what I am teaching you and feel safe enough to share your worries and fears. It also means you can turn up in your comfies and feast on ALL the snacks while we chat. Nobody wants to be sat on a hard plastic chair, in a cold village hall, with a dodgy projector screen.
When should I book a course?
You can book a course as soon as you are ready.
Antenatal classes usually suit those between 24-36 weeks but hypnobirthing requires regular practice so it’s always good to allow yourself plenty of time to do this after the course.
For Postpartum Planning Workshops, you can book anytime.
It’s never too late to book a course- that’s why I run an ‘Essentials’ workshop.
Can I bring my birth partner?
Of course, they’re included in the price you pay. Birth partners have such an important job so I’m here to help them gain confidence in their new role. (Please let me know if you’ve decided to have two birth partners so that we can find an option that works for everyone.)
I’m a single parent, am I okay to join?
Absolutely! WBC welcomes ALL births. I strive to create a safe, welcoming environment for everyone. Your booking is for two so you’re welcome to bring a friend/family member.
Do you have to be a first-time parent?
Nope! In fact, lots of people will book a course for their second baby because they had a negative experience with their first. Also, you may have discovered the power of hypnobirthing since becoming a parent and decide to use it for your next birth.
Our courses are designed for ALL births.
What is hypnobirthing?
First of all, hypnobirthing is not woo-woo despite what it’s name suggests. Hypnobirthing is a toolkit to prepare yourself to birth your baby. It’s science-based and very logical. It’s a combination of relaxation, affirmation (positive thoughts) and understanding. It’s for ALL types of birth- hospital, home or theatre. It’s for you AND your birth partner. It teaches you to relax deeply and helps to change your mindset by reframing pain. You’ll understand what your body can do and how your partner can help. It takes practice, it’s not just ‘fancy breathing’ on the day.
My birth partner thinks hypnobirthing is rubbish. What can I do?
Firstly, my husband was exactly the same before our daughter was born and now he tells people to use it.
Hypnobirthing was developed over 30 years ago but the generations before ours know little about it. Since then, there’s been a whole load of research into labour, birth and the body so our view on it has changed. It’s becoming a hugely popular option for birth preparation and there are so many positive hypnobirthing birth stories online. If they’re still not convinced, book in for a discovery call and I can help you to change their mind.
I’m planning on bottle feeding my baby. Will you still support me?
100% I am here to support ALL births and postpartum periods. If you want to bottle feed, I’m here for you! I will make sure you know your options and feel confident in establishing bottle feeding with your newborn. No judgement here. Do what is right for you. You are everything your baby needs and your well-being matters.
What does the price include?
For my birth preparation courses, the price includes 2 tickets, WBC handouts, a gorgeous goody bag jam-packed with treats and local info, Hypnobirthing MP3s and relaxation scripts and unlimited access to my birth book library.
The Postpartum Planning Workshops include 2 hours of support and ongoing WhatsApp/email support during the early days.
I still have a few questions. Can you help?
Absolutely! Drop me a message or give me a call. I would LOVE to help you.
